Social Media and FLSmidth

Trump loved the steak.

The FLSmidth Human Resources department of Midvale, Utah attended the  Monster Thought Leadership Seminar on the “Myths and Power of Social Media in Recruiting." Eric Winegarder of Monster gave an excellent demonstration on how to better your Social Media skills with regard to recruiting the best candidates. (Media One of Utah, set us up at a delicious Salt Lake City Steakhouse, which wasn't too shabby either. Media One of Utah, pretty much takes care of your advertising and marketing needs.)

Eric Winegarder of Monster (on the left, not the one who's green), gave me many tips on how to better my Twitter usage. For example, I mostly used Twitter just to post open positions at FLSmidth. He said,"For every 2 job openings posted on Twitter, you need to have 22 Tweets." I was offering potential applicants a great opportunity at FLSmidth but kind of throwing it at them. "With more than 13,000 employees and local presence in over 50 countries, FLSmidth is a leading engineering company listed on NASDAQ OMX Exchange Copenhagen." Social Media helps FLSmidth reach out and inform globally, so I am grateful for the perfecting of FLSmidth's Social Media capabilities. Thank you Monster, Media One of Utah (Casey Telford, Digital Account Manager), and Eric Winegardner for this "awesome sauce-like" learning experience. This knowledge will assist FLSmidth with it's growth, and the sharing of our career opportunities. http://www.flsmidth.com/  Follow me on Twitter: Swabeany.

"FLSmidth names new executive vice president
130-year-old company promotes first non–Dane to its executive level

SALT LAKE CITY (March 28, 2012) – For the first time in 130 years, FLSmidth, a Denmark based, market-leading supplier of equipment and services to the global minerals and cement industries, has promoted a non-Dane to its executive leadership team.

Peter J. Flanagan has been selected to serve as a member of Group Executive Management, and as executive vice president of FLSmidth’s newly formed Non-Ferrous Division, which provides advanced minerals processing technologies, systems and solutions to the global mining industry. Flanagan, who is originally from Greenwich, Connecticut, USA, has worked in the mining and minerals processing industry for more than 25 years. Formerly, he led FLSmidth’s mining activities in the Americas. Now he takes the reins of FLSmidth’s largest of four divisions with an order intake of more than USD 1.8 billion booked in 2011.

“Promoting Peter to this executive management position is part of our new global strategy and will significantly strengthen our group structure,” said Jorgen Huno Rasmussen, Group CEO. “We look forward to his contributions leading the new division and working with us on the executive level.”

As the division head, Flanagan, 46, will work out of the FLSmidth minerals technology center headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. He will oversee the work of 2,800 employees in more than 20 countries on six continents. Flanagan is a mechanical engineering graduate of Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

“FLSmidth has great people and great technologies. We’re experiencing tremendous growth as we deploy these key assets into industry leading production systems and full life cycle support for miners and minerals processers,” said Flanagan. “I’m excited to be a part of this talented team, and look forward to the ongoing opportunity to be our customers’ one source to unlock their mineral resources sustainably.”
