FLSmidth Honored Engineer Mentor

Philip Thompson is not only the Director Dawson Metallurgical Laboratory at FLSmidth in Midvale, Utah, but has also obtained the international Antoine M. Gaudin Award, last year. For many years, Philip Thompson has been mentoring the University of Utah students in the realm of Metallurgical Engineering.  Tsend-Ayush Tserendagva is one of those students at the University of Utah, who also works part-time for FLSmidth as a student researcher, according to Rinna Waddhany of the Special to The Tribune on Mar 07, 2012 .

"His <Tsend-Ayush Tserendagva> research at the U. is focused on environmentally friendly ways to separate mineral particles and recover valuable resources through a process known as flotation."
"Phil has been a great mentor and has provided me with an important industrial perspective of flotation technology," Tserendagva said.
"Tserendagva said his interest in metallurgical engineering was sparked by the abundant mineral resources in Mongolia, his home country." -Rinna Waddhany, Special to The Tribune
